I recently attended the Naperville League of Women Voters co-sponsered candidates forum for the 204 School board candidates. My opinions are based on what I took from the forum and from what I read on their websites (for the candidates I found a website for). Sorry I can't be more informative and present more details but I really don't remember a lot about the candidates that didn't grab my attention that evening. If anyone else has more information they can add about any of these candidates, I would appreicate their input.
Dawn DeSart - former reporter - was well versed on the issues facing the board but she was a little too showy for me.
Doug Difusco - local lawyer -
Eric Hepburn-
Jerry Huang - will get my vote - strong financial background - well versed on the issues - presented some independent ideas.
Yuming Huang - well educated - good heart - weak on verbal communication skills
Donald Muscato -
Cathy Piehl - currently seated on the board as an appointed commissioner, I didn't agree with everything she said or believed, but she stood up for what she believed in, regardless of what anyone else said. I would probably vote for Cathy
Susan Rasmus- Susan is (or was) the president of her children's school PTA. Knew and had opinions on most of the hot issues.
Mark Rising - Mark seemed to focus most of his attention on the needs and accomodations of special needs students. Didn't seem to offer a lot of new ideas in any other area.
Michael Strick - Michael's main attention was not on any of the issues facing the board except for the issues with the board's President that had resigned that day.
Christine Vickers - Elected to the board. Has been vocal about several finanical issues the board has recently addressed. Presented some specific ideas.
Janey Wagner - did not attend the forum.
